ashley's day

Well we had one very excited little girl this morning. Ashley has been waiting so long to go to pre-school and today was her day. She got up and kirsty and her got dressed all nicely and brushed hair and all. Then we packed the lunches which was oh so exciting for miss ashley = she wanted carrot sticks just like her big sister.
We dropped kirsty off and then went in with ash - BB me and daddy all went in to have a look and readsome stories on the mat with her. She had role call and then they all went out to the playground to play. She asked if I was coming back to pick her up and of course I said yes and then she was off. She had the best day and said she wants to go back tomorrow. yeah.
Then we all came home and prepared my vegie patch ready for planting - I am sorry now I didnt take a before photo as it looks fantastic. Well take a photo tommorow.

kirsty's day

kirsty's first day at her new school. She was very nervous , BB and I went to school with her and oh my what a lovely school - it is only 6 years old and has a nice country feel to it - and 1/4 of the size of her old one. Once her name was called out to go with her teacher she hopped up and went fine - just looked a couple of times to see if we were following. Anyway we stayed a little while and left her to it.

Picked her up from school and she had the best day and have made a couple of friends already. She loves her teacher so lets hope that lasts a bit longer.

We came home after school and this is a photo of our first fruit off our block - banana's and a pineapple - ate the pineapple tonight - yummy.

Will be ashley's first day tomorrow so more photos tomorrow.

chickens

well what a day - we all had a nice sleep in as Mum and I went scrapbooking last night and did some more wedding invites.

We first of all had to fill the tank up as we ran out of water last night - Note to self :::we need to remember to fill tank .

We then all went to bunnings and got a hedge trimmer and picked lots of seed packets to start our vegie garden. Then on the way home steve wanted to fill the gerry can with petrol and the coolalinga markets were still on so Kirsty ran in there to see if they had any chickens - well they did so we ended up buying three little chickens

Black one is ahleys and she called it Blacky
yellow one is kirsty's and she called it lemon
brown one is tiger and is mine

This is the chook pen that we now have to clean out - Ashley is cleaning the little pen that we will put inside the big one until the chickens get bigger they are only 5 days old now.

We are in the process of cleaning the passionfruit vine off the top to restrengthen the roof wire.

This is the other side of the chicken coop that the horses have been taking refuge so we cleaned this out as well today.

Chickens in there little house now and the kids now putting the food and water in there. They have had the best day and are both so very excited.

I was supposed to go to a retreat last weekend - but between moving and work I only managed to go at night for both nights - but I had an awesome time with my friends and a very relaxing time - I worked on my sisters wedding invites so got some more done.

My girls came home on saturday night and I was so excited to see them and my mum who will be here now for a couple of weeks to help me - thanks ma

We also got a couple of horses delivered last saturday from our local horse club we go to - Wongabilla - we are adjisting them for a couple of months until classes start again. So exciting to see horses on my block.

Mum Kirsty and I did another few trips today and a clean of the other house so hopefully tomorrow will be all finished - cant wait.

lesson learnt

Well i need to tell you about my night last night - after chistine and the boy left we had dinner and then made the wise decision it was the night to wean doolan off his mum (i am talking about my cows) as the previous owner said he was due to be weaned and you seperate him from his mum and put him in another paddock with someone to keep him company . Ok well all said and done not that easy to seperate him from his mum -bella (and she is the one with horns) so a video I think would have been good. anyway we managed to do it. and all was good they were happy and not too much mooin.

UNTIL about 10pm mum bellows and bellows ALL NIGHT really loud - then of course doolan answered sometimes and when he did the whole herd did - OMG what a racket - I slept a whole 3 hours all night. I sat waiting for the sun to rise to see what was happening and Bella had broken one fence and was almost through the next one and still making a huge racket - so I weakened and let her in. Instant silence - thank god -- I think I was more worried about the neighbour - but I did see her and it did not bother her so that is good. Anyway not so easy as owner had told me - we will try again in a couple of months - fix fence and turn on the electric fence and book a motel room -........lol anyway they seem to have no hard feelings as they were fine at dinner time.

here is a couple of pictures of steve on the mower and feeding the cows.

my cows

Hi guys I wont bore you too much but these are a couple of the cows we inherited and we are really enjoying them at the moment - The little one (little horns) is Doolan he is 4 months old. The there is Bella (big horns) she is pregnant and then the big bull is called manny.

We had fun tonight as we had christine and her boys visit us and have a look around and the boys fed the birds and the cows. And they enjoyed there visit - Aron even took some photos of the kangaroos over the back fence. Then while we were out the back having a drink - Luke went missing thought he was watching steve on the mower but found out he was waving his red shirt at the bull to see if he would do anything - lol - luckily the cows are so docile that it would need a bit more than a red shirt. he he

photos finally

Ok I this the photos look too large so may have to change it next time - so family photo is at the carols by candlelight at the botanical gardens - we had a lovely night.
Ashley with her santa present - her music as she calls it
And Kirsty riding her present from santa - woo hoo

my first night

well we spent our first night at the house last night - Oh I am so in heaven - even the old house is growing on me - but the bathrooms are definetly the first on the reno list. - There is alot more room in there than I thought - except for no cupboards in one bedroom which we will have to fix.

Previous owner have been feeding the local birdlife so every afternoon about 5 there is alot of racket till you feed them and then it is red wine time and sit there and watch. Then of course the cows start bellowing for there food so have to feed them - such a different lifestyle.

The house is also alot cooler and has a wonderful breeze through it. Steve mowed the lawn last night to see how long it took and it is only 1.5hrs to do the lot so this is a good thing. I also tried to cook a lamb roast for our first night and with a new oven burnt the vegies to a black char - then had to put another lot in and then I am so used to gas stoves went to make the gravy and boil the peas and of course it took ten mins to get element hot - great oven though as it is only 12 months old - just will need to get used to it. So after all that we had dinner at 9pm - and then flopped exhuasted into bed.

Still have lots at the other house to move but we have two weeks so I am filling the car up every night till done and then luckily my mum is here next week and we will stick a/c on and clean the house which wont take that long as it was pretty clean anyway as we were having all the opens.

Fed the only chook there last night with peelings - will be a learning curve - found they dont like parsnip and obviously none of us had parsnip as mine was a black char in the roast.

Sorry kirsty still no photos and I am going riding tonight so probably wont get them on tonight either but I will try if not definatly tomorrow. Hope you are having fun on your holiday - I think Ashley is going to the beach with nana today.

moving

well i am pretty tired so not a big post - moved 3 car trailer loads today - the last load was just before it started to rain so that was lucky as it was our entertainment centre and lounge chairs.

I think I am in heaven at this new place it is so serene and peaceful - we sat on the back verandah watching the birds that demand their feed at 5pm and sat there for ages just watching them. I think the cows are starting to get more used to us not running or jumping away from us so much. We had a beer and pizza on the verandah for our first dinner at house and then came back to old home as we have not moved our bed yet - should be in there tomorrow night

Kirsty not long now and you will be home to help out - I am keeping the chook shed for you to help me clean out and then we can get some little chickens - woo hoo

hopefull tomorrow night can find a little time to try and remember how to post photos and will do that for you to look at.

new home

Well we finally got the keys to our new home yesterday - I promise to find my camera and take some photos. What an exciting day.
We did not move anything as we didnt get the keys till 3pm and I still had to go to my fortnightly scrap(well gasbag) session (I didnt do any scrapping) at Stampcraft.

But I will tell you a little funny story for our first day. Need to set the scene a little. - Well the house is in the middle of the block with paddocks all around for the animals. And the house has a little grassed area with lovely gardens and a little spa in the backyard that is enced off so the cows cannot get in. We had arrived the night before we got our house as I knew the owner was not here anymore and I was worried about the cows so steve and I went round and fed them and also used the time to have a really good look around so we went through the little gate at the back of the house to do this. Had a lovely time.
The next day around 1pm I went to the house to show a couple of people from our horse club - Wongabilla the paddocks to see if they want to adjist a couple of horses over the wet. And while I was waiting for them I dismanltled a big gate that was annoying us as the previous owners ad little dogs so they pinned them in the backyard. Anyway I pulled it down so we had free acsess to the back verandah. I then left and we waited for the real estate to ring and say keys are ready. So about 3:30pm steve and I excitingly drove down the driveway and parked near the house and stopped and steve looked in our backyard and yes you guessed it the big bull and 2 of the heifers were in the back yard - OMG where are the rest of them - I slowly trun around and another heifer is in my orchard - Yell to steve to quickly run down to the front gate and close it - had visions of meeting all the neighbours looking for escaped cows - lovley first meeting. I run around counting all the cows - thankfully all there so now our first attempt of rounding the cows and putting them in the paddock - talk about learning quickly. Not too much damage done to our gardens. On closer inspection the small gate we had gone through the previous night we did not latch properly and the gate I took down gave them free passage to walk right out the front gate. LOL what an adventure.

So anyway after that we opened our house and both of us put one foot inside the door together and looked through the house - then sat outside and had a few drinks. Phewwwww.

Boxing day

Well the girls and I got up really early to go to Casuarina to the boxing day sales - have never been there before but the crowds wernt too bad. kirsty and I sourced a new xmas tree - very nice . We had lunch there and then came home to pack our bags to go to Qld. We then hopped on a plane at 1:30 am in the morning and yes you guessed it - the girls did not sleep a wink - so I was very very tired.
I only stayed in Qld for a couple of days - we had a family xmas altogether but missed my sister Kerri she was the only one missing which was a little sad - but I will see her in April.
I flew back home on the 30th and left the girls there with my mum and mother in law. Little hard as first time at home without both our girls but they are enjoying their holiday.

xmas day

well what a slacker I have been - so sorry and my girls are in Qld too - so they could be reading - so I will start where I left off

xmas day - well that was a real nice day very lazy and fun. We awoke to the scream of Kirsty waking up to find a big telescope at the end of her bed. And then she raced into our room - luckily it was about 8am not too bad. Ash had already got up early but she forgot so I stuck cartoons on tele for awhile and I had a few more zzzzzz's while I got the chance.
When kirsty got up then ash ran back to her room to have a look and she also let out a little yelp as Santa had left her music (as she calls it) a cd player. She was very excited as now she doesnt have to fight kirsty to use hers. She also got a fancy clock with a night light and a prjector that puts an image on the roof a jumbo coouring book and pencils and a few little things.
It is so much fun watching there excitement. Kirsty then took her coloured popcor out of her bag and realised there was a note from Santa. A clue to maybe another present - santa had put a trail of about 8 clues to eventually find a new bike in the craft room - ohhhhh santa spoilt her a little this year. I think he must of known she had to ride a fair bit to her new school.

Sorry am slack with posting photos not very organised at the moment but I wil post some up soon.

Pop and elizabeth came for xmas lunch - they arrived at about 11:30 and we opened all other presents and then had a seafood lunch. They left about 3. we all then had a little rest and we went to there place about 6 for tea had a swim and then came home.

Phew what a day.
